“Toilet paper” as we know it, was invented in the 1890s. Before then, how did we manage?
NEWSPAPER.
After the paper was read, it was cut/ripped into pieces – then hung on a meat hook – attached to the wall by string. This provided some light reading while doing one’s ‘business’, and a ℱǖӥ way to clean up afterwards!
NOW: for the distinguished Victorian-era household, we present the “Toilet Hook De-Luxe”: a fancy alternative to the “traditional” meat hook on a string.
